Raw fleece to finished object: Dorset Horn scarf from Tour de Fleece handspun yarn off the loom this morning (68g; 160 yards (DK/Worsted). 🐑
I really enjoyed spinning Dorset Horn from the raw fleeces I bought from Fiber Curio. I’ve ordered more from another vendor and I’ll post pics upon arrival.
This scarf wove up quickly and I’m thinking about dyeing it with avocado pits in the near future.
First project from Tour de Fleece handspun yarn: Classic Knit Hat

CVM/Merino-cross raw fleece from Cactus Hill Farm (Colorado).
Since I didn’t take rest days during the Tour de Fleece, I decided to spin very small samples on the last two days.
Day 22, Florida Cracker & CVM samples: 18 yds; 21 g; 2-ply bulky
BFL from Cactus Hill Farm (Colorado); 42 YDS; 18 g; Sport 2-ply
Tour de Fleece, Days 1-21 : All from raw fleece (scoured/combed or carded) 12 sheep breeds. Yarn yield = 3,693 yards of singles; 811 grams (28.61 ounces) of wool.
Day 21 of Tour de Fleece: Florida Cracker wool (washed/carded from raw fleece) from Silver Bullet Farm (Florida): 32g; 42 yds 2-ply bulky weight.
Day 20 of Tour de Fleece: Gulf Coast Native blend from drum carded leftovers (washed/carded from raw fleece) from Alchemy Farms & Yellow Bell Farmstead.
Yield: 33g ; 62 yards Aran weight, 2-ply
Day 19 of Tour de Fleece: Florida Cracker wool (washed/carded from raw fleece) from Silver Bullet Farm (Florida): 21g; 62 yds single-ply Sport weight.
Day 17 of Tour de Fleece: Jacob/Columbia cross wool from Middleton, Tennessee. (washed/carded from 2019 raw fleece sample) 20g; 60 yds 2-ply Sport weight.
Day 18 of Tour de Fleece: Gulf Coast Native (washed/carded from raw fleece) from Alchemy Farms (Alabama): 29g; 85 yds 2-ply Sport weight.
Day 16 (July 11) of Tour de Fleece:
Rustic-spun Shetland wool (washed/carded from raw fleece) 26g; 33.4 yds 2-ply Bulky weight.
This small sample was rough spun from some carded bits that weren’t conducive to consistent spinning, so I just treated it like bulky art yarn. I’ll probably use it in a woven piece for texture.
Day 12 of Tour de Fleece: Shetland wool “Percy” from Rock Mills Farm, Virginia (washed/carded from raw fleece) 47g; 115 yds 2-ply Sport weight.
Tour de Fleece, Day 10 (July 5): Shropshire wool (washed/carded from raw fleece) results from; 23 yds of 3-ply—70 yds singles (Bulky weight) yarn.
Tour de Fleece, Day 11 (July 6): American Tunis wool (washed/carded from raw fleece) results from 21g; 52 yds of 2-ply (Sport weight) yarn.
