2019 Raw Fleece Projects: Jacob-Columbia Cross Wool and Shetland Wool

Back at the end of May, I attended the Middle Tennessee Fiber Festival (Dickson, TN) and brought home 5 raw fleeces. Three were from Jacob-Columbia Cross sheep from Rhea Farms (Middleton, TN) and two were Shetland fleeces from Ballyhoo Fiber Emporium (Bagdad, KY).

I began processing one of the Shetland fleeces and one of the Jacob-cross fleeces as soon as I got home and spun up just enough 2-ply yarn of each to knit small projects. These “test” projects allowed me to see how the fiber would look in its finished state.

Stay tuned for more finished knitted and woven items from these raw fleeces!
